The Reflexive Philosophy Project

Welcome to reflexivephilosophy.com / reflexivephilosophie.de!

This website is dedicated to the extensive philosophical work and thought of Professor Dr. Johannes Heinrichs. Our primary goal is to make his fundamental concepts — particularly reflection logic, the four-level reflection model, and their diverse applications — accessible to a broader audience.

We address:

  • Philosophy enthusiasts and students
  • Academics and researchers across various disciplines
  • Practitioners in fields such as education, therapy, politics, and economics
  • In particular, researchers and developers in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) who are looking for new conceptual frameworks for consciousness, communication, and social intelligence.
  • All who seek new, systematic perspectives for understanding consciousness, communication, society, and meaning.

Our Mission

We aim to present systematic reflexive philosophy as an important and timely contribution to addressing current personal, societal, and global challenges. To this end, we want to:

  • Present the core concepts of reflexive philosophy in a clear, structured, and comprehensible manner.
  • Demonstrate the systematic depth and breadth of Johannes Heinrichs’ work.
  • Clarify the philosophical-historical context and dialogue with other schools of thought.
  • Build interdisciplinary bridges, particularly to social sciences, psychology, linguistics, action theory, and AI research.
  • Highlight the potential for practical applications in various areas of life and society.
  • Provide a platform for information, exchange, and dialogue about reflexive philosophy.

Our Structure: The Four Meaning Elements as Guide

The website is structured according to the four meaning elements of reflexive philosophy, which form the basic framework of the system:

M Ss So O
- **[Medium (M)](/en/philosophy/medium/)**: The methodological and epistemological foundations, the dimension of meaning and spirit. - **[Subject (formerly Ss)](/en/philosophy/subject/)**: The anthropological and consciousness-theoretical aspects, the centre of individual experience and action. - **[Dialogue (formerly So)](/en/philosophy/dialogue/)**: The social-philosophical and communication-theoretical dimensions, the realm of intersubjectivity. - **[Object (formerly O)](/en/philosophy/object/)**: The relation to the objective world and to nature.

Additionally, you will find overarching sections on Foundations & Method, Context & Reception, Applications, and Resources.

The Contributors

The website “Reflexive Philosophy” is a project by Kai Froeb, who has dedicated himself to the digital communication of philosophical content for over 25 years. As the founder and operator of hegel.net — one of the most comprehensive resources on Hegel’s philosophy on the internet — he brings long-standing experience in making complex philosophical concepts accessible.

Contact with Johannes Heinrichs was established through hegel.net approximately 20 years ago. The content of this website is developed in close coordination with Professor Heinrichs to ensure an authentic and precise presentation of his philosophy.

The technical implementation uses modern web technologies (Eleventy, WebC), with AI tools also being employed to help explore and present the complex philosophical content.
